Apart from the 1st of May being the International Workers Day,it will also be the inaguration of Expo 2010 Shanghái under the motto Better city, better life (Mejor ciudad, mejor vida), and Madrid is one of the 14 cities selected  from 188 candidates to participate in this event.Madrid will present two structures at the event: La Casa de Bambú and el Árbol del Air.
The two structures La Casa de Bambú and el Árbol del Aire, have both being created with the notion of respect to the environment and the improvement of the quality of life of their users.It is for these reasons that they have converted into models of urban ecology.For example,they do not need excessively complex technologies nor expensive solutions to be efficient and functional.The area in which these structures are found is called the Zona de Mejores Prácticas Urbanas  (ZMPU) or the Urban Practice Best Area (UBPA) in English. The ¨La Casa Encendida¨is celebrating what could have been the 100th birthday of the poet Luis Rosales.The exposition is the collaboration of  La Casa Encendida, Sociedad Española de Conmemoraciones Culturales, the Archivo Histórico Nacional and the Centro Andaluz de las Letras. He was a member of the Real Academia Española (RAE) from 1962 and was a recipient of the Premio Miguel de Cervantes 20 years later.The exposition will be commissioned by Xelo Candel and Paloma Esteban and will be composed of  letters, photographs and other documents, along with works of artists as Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, Savior Dalí and Benjamín Palencia.   READ MORE »

The artist Loic Azaceta arrives in Madrid with an explosion of colour. As residents and visitors in Madrid from now till 13th May we will be fortunate to appreciate his best offerings of art and painting.This exposition is absolutely recommended by the organisers and people in-the-know. Venue: El Beso (c/Loreto y Chicote, 9 Metro: Gran Vía / Callao) and the hours are Mondays from 5pm till pm,Tuesdays till Fridays from 12 midday till 3pm and from 5pm till 9pm,while its open from 12midday till 9pm on Saturdays. Entrance is free!!!

The Catalan inventor,Joan Rovira,has brought on the second edition of his “Reclicart“.The art piece is made of 40 original components.This edition will also feature the”workshop of Joan”. After the success of his first artistic exhibition of Reclicart in Madrid, Joan is featuring new machines which are made from domestic waste and industrial residue donated by entrepeneurs in the Barcelonese town of La Plana. Academia de Cine (Zurbano, 3 Metro: Alonso Martínez) is organising another cycle of exciting movies.This time the movies are movies are from the years of dark cinema from Barcelona which was influenced by French and American thrillers.This Friday,30th of April,you can catch “Los culpables”, of Josep María Forn at 8pm.Be sure to arrive at most 30minutes earlier as seating is limited and to avoid waiting in a queue for a long time.Admission is free.
