World Press PhotoThe Cultural Centre of Moncloa is hosting a World Press Photo exposition which features the pictures the made the news and captured history in making in 2010.Some of the most poignant pictures include pictures from the World Cup 2010, from my homeland South Africa, as well as pictures from the earthquake in Haiti.

Music Concerts Marathon at National Symphony Auditorium

There will be a musical marathon at the National Auditorium lasting about 12 hours. Each concert will last half an hour and the day will be concluded with a guided visit of the Symphonic Hall. The music which will be played at this musical extravaganza includes Jazz(Chick Corea,Coltrane…), Flamenco, Percusion, Choirs, Piano Recitals and Classic music of Chopin, Beethoven among others.

The first concert starts at 11:30am and first come, first served! The Auditorio Nacional is located at Príncipe de Vergara,146 near metro Cruz del Rayo. This event was put together to celebrate music day.Entrance is FREE!

Gastronomy Fair in Plaza Mayor

Check out the gastronomical fair with the invited country being Ecuador.There will also be some gastronomy from Brazil, Mexico and Bolivia. The fair ends on Sunday at 10pm.Other than a chance to taste the food,one can inform themselves about the culture,top touristic destinations of these countries not to mention that there will be live spectacles and music to entertain the fair visitors.Access to the fair, is of course free!

PHotoEspaña Exposition at FNAC

The Italian Institute in Madrid is sponsoring a photoexposition by Giuseppe Moccia (Nápoles, 1978), of potraits of Christopher,a boy with Down´s Syndrome as he fights and struggles to go through life seeking autonomy and indepence while facing enormous social and psychological challenges.The exposition is currently on and ends on the 24th of July at Fnac Callao (metro Callao) open daily till 9:30pm.

Have fun singing along to your favorite songs this Saturday, June 18 at La Cueva Del Bolero (calle Recoletos, 11, metro: Colon line 4). Karaoke starts at 22:00 and costs just €2. Of course, lyrics will be available for you to sign along. All the classic songs will be available, from a wide repertoire. And who knows- you might just learn a few new ones too!
