Christmas Lights in the City

Christmas lights are usually traditionally marking of the holiday, and they are one of the major poles of attraction for those who take advantage of this time to visit Madrid, but especially for the locals themselves.

The start date of the Christmas lights 2014 – 2015 in Madrid is Friday November 28th and will last until January 6th, 2015

This Christmas there is a change in the trend of the past year regarding the installation of the Christmas lights in Madrid because the council has approved an increase of 7% in the budget for it. This will allow the addition of new lighting designs that add to the already common, and nine new street lighting, so at Christmas the city of Madrid will have a total of 90 lighted streets. These new streets are Cava de San Miguel, las calles Hileras, Fuentes, Milaneses, Santiago, Escalinata y Mesón de Paños, la Plaza de los Herradores, and Puente de Ventas, where there will be installed four bright stars. Furthermore, all the Christmas lights of Madrid and has low power LED technology, which promotes greater efficiency.

The scheduled hours of illuminated Christmas lights are as follows:

From Sunday to Wednesday, between 6pm – 1opm
Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and eve of public holidays from 6pm-11pm
December 24th and January 5, from 6pm-3am.
December 25th, January 1st and 6th, from 6pm – 12am
December 31st (the day with more time lighting) 6pm-6am January 1st.
