Comedy at its Best with Improv in Madrid

Laughing is often seen as medicine for the soul, and Freshly Comedy is ready to offer up a proper dosage this coming Sunday. Comedians Dan Feist from the United States, Steve Loader from England, Just Shaun from Ireland, and Toni Rodriguez from Scotland make up the Freshly Baked improv comedy show, a spontaneous and all-English show that’s ready to turn up the heat. According to the event’s Facebook page, this improv show is the highest rated comedy show of any genre in all of Spain. The ratings on the bargains portal atrapalo.com can certainly back up these claims, with the show pulling out a 9-9.5 rating in almost all categories. One reviewer said the most lasting effect will be the abdominal pain after laughing so much.

This show is described as a “recipe of pure improv” that mixes in a lot of audience participation, with suggestions being tossed out to the audience to give the performance a unique feel every time. The comedians encourage the audience to be as ridiculous as they are, because “the sillier, the better!” The suggestions and participation are key for their games, which range from classic games to their own unique creations.

Although the entirety of the show is in English, the audience has a solid mix of participants: native English speakers and English students. One attendee stated that as an English student, she was still laughing the entire time despite not understanding everything that was said. In fact, the majority of the reviews are from Spanish fans. This could be the perfect chance to brush up on some more colloquial English or expose a Spanish friend to some of those weird English jokes.

If you enjoyed the show, you should be on the lookout for another one. Each show is guaranteed to be unique so you’ll be laughing for days.

The show is for adults only and runs for about 75 minutes. It starts at 19:00 at Beer Station on Cuesta de Sto Domingo, 22. Tickets are 7€ if you reserve online and 12€ at the door. The closest metro station is Santo Domingo.
