Destination Flanders

Last November, we were invited to a blogger-tourism event which promotes Flanders in Belgium as a tourist destination. The event was hosted in the reputable Belgian restaurant, Restaurant Atelier, in Madrid. At arrival around 8pm, the press responsible for Belgian Tourism, Ángeles Alonso-Misol, Flanders and Brussels warmly welcomed us. Many Spanish travel and gastronomy bloggers attended. An hour later, Ángeles, gave us an interesting and informative chat regarding destination flanders.

Dinner at Atelier Belge

The blogger presence was very impressive and representative of the most active and relevant ¨ambassadors¨ in gastronomy and travel in Spain and social media currently. Some of the bloggers of note included @HamptonShabby of the site www.hamptons-c.com, www.elprimerpaso.es, unserenotransitandolaciudad.com, madridcoolblog.com, columnazero.com, comoencasaencualquierlugar.com just to mention a few. We were all retransmitting the event through social media like Instagram and Twitter using the hastag #DestinoFlandes.

After the chat, we sat on different tables, and started a spectacular delicatessen dinner accompanied by the famous Belgian beers. The dinner was delicious and as the venue and event commanded, featured typical Belgian dishes like mussels and for dessert their world class chocolate. The pictures, below, indeed are worth a thousand words. The dinner was very spirited with views, opinion and experiences shared about Destination Flanders. After all, we were 24 bloggers and representatives of Belgian tourism enjoying the best of Belgium in Madrid. 

The event concluded with bloggers receiving a tourist magazine of Flanders and some mouth-watering chocolates.
