How to Prepare for the Oscars in Madrid

With the Oscars just around the corner, some of you probably want to have an opinion to defend the next time you’re enjoying a post-lunch tertulia with your friends. If you prefer watching movies in their original language, many of the Oscar-nominated films are still playing at Original Version cinemas around Madrid.

There is no clear frontrunner for Best Picture this year, but it’s likely to be won by either Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln or Ben Affleck’s Argo, both of which are playing in English at Yelmo Cines Ideal (Calle del Doctor Cortezo, 6, metro: Puerta del Sol). In fact, that cinema seems to have Oscar fever, as it’s showing almost all the rest of the Best Film nominees as well: Silver Linings Playbook, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Django Unchained, Amour, Les Misérables, and Zero Dark Thirty.

Other Original Version cinemas showing Oscar-nominated films include: Verdi Madrid, Cines Princesa, Renoir Retiro, Renoir Plaza España, and Renoir Cuatro Caminos.
