Itinerary of World Pride Madrid 2017 celebrations

This year World Pride Madrid 2017 has an interesting itinerary filled with novelties and anniversaries. There are several anniversaries to mark and is therefore more special than other years. Madrid Pride 2017 celebrates the 40th anniversary of the first LGTB demonstration in Spain, the 30th anniversary of the celebration in the Chueca neighborhood, the 20th anniversary of the use of floats in the demonstration and the 10th anniversary of the Europride celebration in Madrid.Now that’s a lot to celebrate! In addition, World Pride Madrid will plant a forest of 2,200 trees on the right bank of the Manzanares River, in Villaverde. In addition to this itinerary,one of the best reasons to visit Madrid,the Prado Museum has organised guided tours to celebrate homosexuality in art .Here follows the itinerary of the most interesting events and activities.

Inauguration 23rd of June:
The show Briefs  arrives at the Teatro Calderón in Madrid to inaugurate the World Pride 2017 on June 23rd. Briefs,the phenomenon has already triumphed around the world and now comes to the stages of Madrid. This burlesque show composed of 7 Australian guys with a tongue-in-the-cheek and spectacular cabaret promises to revolutionize the Spanish capital. World Pride Park June 28th to July 2nd at 12:00 to 22:00. This year Madrid Pride 2017 has a dedicated outdoor space called World Pride Park. The park is located alongside Madrid Rio (Puente del Rey) just 15 minutes walk from the Chueca neighborhood. It is very well connected by public transport only 2 metro stops from Puerta del Sol and 1 from Plaza de España. World Pride Park is a place where groups, LGBT and Human Rights associations around the world will have an information and cultural exchange space open to the public. Some of the activities that will go on are seminars, workshops as well as food trucks to keep everyone fed and happy!

Chueca Kids & Family Parade June 28th to July 2nd at 12:00 to 22:00

Chueca Kids & Family Parade has a myriad of activities aimed at all families and especially young people and children. Among them, concerts, technology workshops, architecture with LEGO pieces, art, face painting and break-dance.

Mr Gay España 2017 Friday 30th of June:

The contest Mr. Gay Pride Spain is preparing its tenth edition, which will be held with the final 16114091_1414803008554283_775736142097531336_ngrand gala as the main event of the WorldPride Madrid 2017 at Puerta del Sol. It takes place on Friday 30th of June.

Sports Events:The Race for Diversity: June 25th
By a society proud of its Sexual Diversity, reaffirming the first place of Spain in the rankings of acceptance of homosexuality and placing Madrid as the gay friendly capital par excellence. There will be two distances (5,000 and 10,000 meters) and both the starting and the finishing line will be located at Plaza de Colón. The Paseo de la Castellana, the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium and the Plaza de Castilla will be some of the points through which the tour
Pride Games (June 23 to 25), the Women’s Football Tournament 7 (June 29-July 2) and the Women’s Paddle Tennis Tournament (July 1) complete the sporting events of this edition.

High Heel Race Thursday  June 29th Calle Pelayo18.00:

20:30 – Proclamation of the Pride with the presentation of Prizes and welcome speeches.

Thursday, June 29th

20:00 – World Pride Cabaret, presented by Nacha la Macha, with Dolly’s diva (Espacio Gula Gula) and ‘Cabaret de los hombres perdidos’ (Teatro Alfil and LQ).

21:00 – Radio Olé Festival, with Kafé pa 3, Calaítos, Las Soles, Sara Salazar, María Artés, Maki, Nuria Fergó, Camela and La Húngara. Until 23:00 hours.

Friday, June 30th
