La Mordida Brings a Taste of Mexico to Madrid

With six locations scattered around Madrid, La Mordida is one of our city’s most popular stops for authentic Mexican food and drinks.
The bar offers an extensive cocktail menu with everything from traditional margaritas and strawberry daiquiris to the popular Mexican blend of beer and spicy tomato juice, micheladas. From 5 to 8:30 in the evenings, all cocktails are buy two get the third free. The drinks pack a punch but you might find it hard to stop after one, making this an offer impossible to refuse.Like any Spanish dining experience, they suggest to work in courses. To start, you can try out the enchiladas rojas- flour tortillas stuffed with pulled chicken and smothered in flavorful red sauce and melted cheese.Or you can opt for a large platter of nachos with refried beans, cheese and chunky guacamole. They also offer cheese dips, stuffed jalapeños or a mixture of them all. For round two, they are most proud of the cochinita pibil. This juicy, slow-roasted pork is bursting with a citrus and tangy notes that makes for a delicious taco when smothered on a fresh corn tortilla. If you prefer something other than pig, they have many other dishes to suit your tastes like fajitas, tacos al pastor, and other delicacies straight from Mexico.
For dessert do not miss out on the mixed crepe. While a crepe from a Mexican resto might sound strange at first, one bite will erase any doubts. It is a thin crepe covered in warm chocolate and dulce de leche sauces, and topped with a scoop of ice cream. We visited the location close to Sol/Ópera on Calle Fuentes, 3. It is a smaller restaurant spot but with festive decorations that make for a fun outing before going elsewhere. While it may not be as cheap as Taco Bell, the quality of the food answers to the price. Sunday through Thursdays, they offer a ten percent discount on special menus.

For the rest of the locations, check out their website.

I love their nachos! I try to make it a monthly date with a friend to eat a plate of their guacamole nachos and a glass of Jamaica while catching up. I’ve also decided to use this article for my CELTA skills assignment! :)
