Madrid’s Most Famous Cocktail Bar: Museo Chicote

Take a step back to the 1930s and drink like the stars at Madrid’s most famous cocktail bar, Museo Chicote. Said to have once been visited by Ernest Hemingway, Grace Kelly, Sofia Loren, and Frank Sinatra, the bar continues to welcome famous guests, but you can also find businessmen coming in for a post-work drink and young people after midnight listening to a live DJ on the weekends.

While the art deco decor has remained the same, the drink menu is anything but outdated. The new year brought in a new bartender, Italian-born Francesco Cavaggioni, who has revamped their offerings to include unique concoctions like bacon-infused bourbon and basil vodka. Of course, if it’s a classic Manhattan or gin fizz that you prefer, he can mix that up too. They are open everyday at 5pm and serve crowds until 3am. Its central location on Calle Gran Vía 12, makes it an easy stop whether you are looking to chat with a friend over inventive drinks or stay out late into the night listening to live music in an atmosphere you cannot find anywhere else in the city.
