March Restaurant Review #1: Urban Burger

This month we will be in search of cheap but good quality hamburger locations in the city. Join me as I dig in…

First opened in December 2011, Urban Burger reinvents the American fast food concept with fresh, local ingredients and made-to-order hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, and milkshakes. The menu is small and simple with prices under 10€ and carry top named American brands like Ben & Jerry’s for their premium milkshakes and Coors Beer!

Order is made and paid for at the registry then brought over to your table in a red plastic tray by one of the staff. My hamburger with caramelized onions was well done and juicy with a chapata style bun and the cheddar cheese crispy bacon fries made a great side kick. To top off my stuffed belly was a miniature but luscious dessert: “the cloud” – a whipped cheesecake mixture served in a small paper cup with a soft cookie bottom topped with quince marmalade and a walnut half. YUM. I was indeed a satisfied customer and will be returning in the near future.

Located on Calle de Preciados 40, between metro Callao & Santo Domingo. Open daily Monday-Sunday from 12noon-1am. Pick-up service available for food-to-go. A second franchise opening soon in April 2012 on Calle de Genova. Stay tuned for my next review of a Burger joint on a budget!
