Noche de los Teatros in Madrid

Madrid celebrates Noche de los Teatros or The Night of Theater in English on the 1st of  April 2016. The Night of Theater is an initiative of the regional government. It has been running for nine years and it aims to promote the performing arts of our region. This edition of Noche de los Teatros commemorates the 400th anniversary of the death of Miguel de Cervantes and William Shakespeare. In addition, it will be a homage to the 150th anniversary of the birth of the Spanish dramatist and novelist  Ramon Maria del Valle Inclan. Where to Enjoy La Noche de Teatros Performances

Most  of the programming of Noche de los Teatros will happen at the Real Casa de Correos . Other participating venues are the Headquarters Office of Culture and Tourism, Casa Lope Museo de Vega, the Pilar Miró, the Real Coliseo Carlos III, the Convent of the Barefoot Trinitarians and Theatre Abbey Cultural Center. The inaguration event  is a speech, written by Alfredo Sanzol and read by Carmen Conesa.

Another star activity is the concert tribute to Cervantes in the convent of the Trinity in the Plaza de Pontejos. The theatrical performance ‘Morboria en el bosque de Shakespeare’ will take place in the streets of the square. A tribute to the English writer based in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, where his fantastical characters, such as Oberon, King of the Goblins, and Titania, Queen of the Fairies, play and have fun with the audience. It’s at 18.00 and admission is free.
