Madrid Open House is a festival of architecture to appreciate the emblematic buildings and architectural design from the exterior and interior. The types of buildings involved in this festival involve corporate, cultural, hotelling and residential buildings. This is the first participation by the city of Madrid, for a festival of architecture and city, that already takes place in over 30 cities around the world.  On the weekend of 26th and 27th September, the doors of more than 100 buildings and urban spaces will be opened to the public and can be visited with a guide. It is a free event for the public  and its main objective is to promote knowledge of the city and recognition of the value of urban spaces. 

History of Open House Festival

Open House was created 20 years ago in London. Subsequently cities like Rome, Oslo, Athens, Melbourne, Prague and Barcelona have since joined the Open House festival worldwide. Currently the festival is also organized in New York , Dublin, Tel Aviv , Adelaide, Jerusalem , Helsinki , Chicago , Lisbon , Monterrey , Thessaloniki, Belfast , Buenos Aires and Nicosia.

  1. Open House Madrid & Hotel Silken Instagram Contest: IgersMadrid  and Madrid Open House  invite you to participate in the contest that will take place between the 7th and 21st of September following the Madrid Open House Festival. The contest uses the hashtag #Redescubre_Madrid (Rediscover Madrid).   2. Office Open House sponsored by Figueras International, will open architectural studios in Madrid. The architects themselves wanted to join this festival of architecture opening the doors of their workplaces , to demonstrate and share their projects in their ¨cradles¨of creativity. Each studio also offers a concrete activity in their opening hours. Some require prior registration , others are free entry  but all have a schedule.   3. Open House Madrid and in collaboration with the magazine Architectural Digest Spain (AD España)  will avail  some of the most exquisite homes of the capital on Saturday September 26th for a free visit.
