Restaurant Review New York Burger

Began by a Columbian couple after much brainstorming with their New Yorker friend, New York Burger first opened in April 2009 near the Plaza de Cuzco on C/ General Yagüe, 5. Two and a half years later, their second location opened in the Fall of 2011 near the Plaza de Colón on C/ Recoletos, 4.Currently they have a total of 4 restaurants with one at Paseo Castellana 89 and the other at Calle Miguel Angel 16. It’s been a huge success, having won Best Service & Business 4 consecutive years (2012, 2011, 2010) by 11870.com.

The restaurant pays homage to the city of New York, not only through their food, but through the decoration, which is very chic and modern with black & white walls, tables with red & white checkered paper tablecloths and tall glass tumblers for a nice ice cold beverage. The walls hang beautifully painted NYC cityscapes and posters of Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn & Andy Warhol.

Burgers are named after the most historical sites in the city: Manhattan, Queens, Bronx, Harlem, Chrysler Tower, Brooklyn, Empire State Building, Little Italy, Wall Street or Times Square. All combinations represent the traditional history of the hamburger with ingredients like cheddar cheese, grilled onions, guacamole, fried egg, chili with beans, blue cheese, cream cheese, onion rings, etc..all served on a rustic or poppy seed bun. You can choose the size of your burger, from small (160g), medium (250g) and large (350g). Below is a picture of my small Chrysler Building Burger well done with blue cheese & blueberry sauce.

Other menu items as American as the Sandwich pay homage to New Yorkers who have excelled in the movies or the show, as Robert de Niro, Woody Allen, Martin Scorcesse or Frank Sinatra or salads that are named after prominent women in the Big Apple as Marilyn Monroe, Madonna or Scarlett Johansson. Here are also grilled dishes and obviously can not miss a good New York Steak or BBQ Ribs or Buffalo Wings with hot sauce or honey mustard. Finger-licking yummies.

Finally, after a long stroll through the city, it’s time for a rest in Central Park and sit on a bench for some sweets. A good dessert course starting with the New York cheese cake with raspberry sauce, brownie with vanilla ice cream, the classic All American Apple Pie and (my personal favorite) the Pecan Pie.

In New York Burger not only are every detail of the food taken carefully, but also have created a very special ambiance, through the decoration, music, service, price, etc. A true homage to all things Made in the U.S.A. …for you to arrive and leave a happy & satisfied customer….wanting to take the next trip to visit New York City. 🙂
