Spring is a beautiful time of the year in the city to enjoy some outdoor activities, whether that be an afternoon run, a picnic in the park, or some sunset yoga. Enjoy some of these suggested activities to do under the sun on your own or with friends!

  1. Have a Picnic in the Park – pack a blanket, a sack lunch and head to any of the city’s parks and gardens. View them all here. Combine it with any of the following activities!
  2. Do Yoga in the Park – disconnect and zen out by flowing into asanas on the grass. There are many classes that occur in Retiro Park. Check out Artesoro with Oscar on Tuesdays & Thursdays @ 7:30pm, for only 3€!
  3. Go Roller Skating – join a club or take a course with any of the skate schools in the city such as Sobre8Ruedas.
  4. Take a Hike – Madrid has some beautiful mountains and trails to go trekking. The most popular hiking group is Hiking in Madrid. Be sure to also follow them on Facebook to get updates on their next scheduled hikes!
  5. Learn about Madrid’s History on a Walking Tour – enhance your knowledge of the city you live in by going on any of the free walking tours offered such as Sandemans.
  6. Row a Boat in Retiro Park – At the artificial lake, called the Estanque, rent a row boat (up to 4 people) and workout your arms a bit then take a break, floating under the sun. Price: 5.80€ (Monday-Friday), 7.50€ (Saturday, Sunday & Holidays). Hours: Monday-Sunday, 10am-8:30pm.

Take a Digital Photography Course in Retiro Park – Learn the basic concepts of digital photography in just 4 hours in the Parque del Retiro on a Saturday morning from 10am-2pm in a small group guided by professional photographer Raúl Guerrero for only 39€. Visit The Royal Botanical Garden – Located in the center of Madrid, El Real Jardin Botanico gives visitors the chance to enjoy the peace and quiet of being immersed in nature, seeing the most diverse collection of plants in all of Spain. While the garden has species dating back more than two centuries, it is also the home to both researchers and botanists. The Royal Botanical Gardens also offers a unique opportunity of informative workshops in different botanical themes for the general public and specific training courses for teachers. More info here.   9. Ride the Teleférico – Enjoy the views of the city from up high on a cable car, running from the Rosales Station or from the Casa de Campo Station. It runs continuously during opening hours, every few minutes you can hop-on into a cabin. Final trip takes place, in each direction, fifteen minutes before closing time.   10. Rent a Bike in Parque de Juan Carlos I – A municipal initiative that was launched in July 2005, visitors can enjoy pedaling around the park at no cost! The bike loan has a maximum duration of one hour to tour the designated areas. Simply register for an electronic card presenting an ID card at the office next to the park’s first parking lot. See Famous European Monuments in Parque Europa – With replicas of 18 European monuments, Parque Europa is the largest green and attraction park of Torrejon de Ardoz. A multi-adventure park is also available for entertaining.
