Madrid has plenty of options certain to put a little jig in your step this Saint Patrick’s Day.  Swing by the Plaza de Cibeles Fountain & Puerta Alcala as it illuminates green. These city icons are joining other international monuments such as The London Eye, Empire State Building, Table Mountain and Niagara Falls in Ireland’s “green” initiative to promote their country across the world.

The traditional Irish group Púca Óg will be playing at the Esculela Oficial de Idomas on Calle Jesús Maestro on Thursday, March 17th at 7pm.

Later at night, the many Irish pubs are certain to have the Guinness flowing and the fiddle playing. Swing by The Irish Rover where Dublin-based band The Colonials will be playing a free concert on Thursday & Friday @ 11pm. O’Neills will also have music by traditional Irish performers at 5pm & 10pm. Other city favorites include The James JoyceLa Ardosa and Molly Malone’s. You can check out a complete list of Irish pubs here.

All that partying on the night of the 17th will be sure to give you an Irish Póite but the festivities continue on with a post-St. Patrick’s Day charity festival on Saturday the 19th at 11pm in Gruta 77 with performances by McOnak, Strike Back & The Crack. Tickets are 14€ and can be purchased there in the box office.

On Saturday the 19th at 11:30am, there is a historical walking tour on “la comunidad irlandesa en el Madrid de los Austrias”  – The meeting point is at Plaza de Isabel II, Metro Opera.

However you spend this Irish holiday, be sure to be safe and have fun… Sláinte!!
