Summer Sales in Madrid
The period of the summer sales normally occurs when the summer break begins throughout Spain. This is commonly at the beginnng of July, however the stores start hanging their ¨Rebajas¨ in June already.
This is because the concept of ¨rebajas¨or sales, with a period of winter and one for summer, has changed slightly over the past years. Local laws give stores flexibility with regards to dates when to start or end the period of sales. The typical summer sales period in Madrid is from July till August. Online store sales have a head start:their discounted prices begin at midnight. Most people,take advantage of the summer sales to stock up on Christmas gifts as well as winter clothes,decor and footwear. It is a way to renew your wardrobe without spending much money on clothes .
An important note though, is to safely guard the sales receipt for possible changes and to ensure that the clothes have no defects or damages . Furthermore you should ensure that your purchase is for garments or items of this spring-summer 2015 and not the previous one and that these should be labeled in another section ( ¨saldos¨¨ ) and other discounts . As a rule of thumb,the discounts range between 10-30 % or 50% directly . Some stores may even apply a 70 % discount, but this usually occurs during the second round of sales that start in August.
