Expositions ending in January

SNSJanuary is an exciting month,solely because its the start of a new year!Here are some suggestions to enjoy some culture and art that Madrid offers with a list of expositions to see before January 31st:

  1. Palladio the Architect: Palladio was a great Rennaissance artist like Rafael and Miguel Ángel.He contributed to architecture in a unique way by using simple and cheaper materials while achieving architecture of marvellous beauty.The exposition features more than 200 works at CaixaFórum (Paseo del Prado, 36 Metro: Atocha L1).Its open from Mondays to Sundays at 10am to 8pm.It ends on the 17th of January.Entrance is free.
  2. Pedro Núñez ehxibits his drawings showcasing his geometrical inclinations .This exhibition is called “Eadem mutato resurgo” (Even though transformed I appear again).It is found at Galería Columpio (Torrecilla del Leal, 7 Metro: Antón Martín L1)and the gallery opens on Mondays to Fridays: 17.30 – 21.00 h. and Saturdays: 12.00 – 14.30 and 17.30 – 21.00 h.Entrance is free and the exposition ends on the 29th of January.
  3. Bosco Sodi exhibits his paintings at Instituto de México (Carrera de San Jerónimo, 46 Metro: Sevilla L2).The paintings follow the themed principle material and memory.Check out this Mexican artist who according to some critics is the heir of traditional informalism and abstract expressionism at Instituto de México (Carrera de San Jerónimo, 46 Metro: Sevilla L2).This exhibition ends on the 16th of January and the institute is open from Mondays to Fridays at 10.00 to 15.00 h.Entrance is free!
  4. EVE Photographers present multiple perceptions of the water shortage problem in many countries around the world.EVE Photographers is a group of six women photographers based in six different countries who unite their efforts to document some issues they think that should be highlighted.Water is an even more prevalent issue in many third world countries and is worth a lot of interest especially after the Copenhague summit.This pictures were taken in India,Malawi,Indonesia,Nigeria and the Caspian Sea.It closes on the 11th of January and it is been held at FNAC Plaza Norte – San Sebastián de los Reyes (Centro Comercial Plaza Norte 2 Metro: Reyes Católicos L10).Operating hours are Mondays to Saturday from 10am till 10pm.
  5. An exhibition showcasing various animal characters in the history of theatre,opera and ballet takes place at  Teatro Fernán Gómez (Plaza de Colón, 4 Metro: Colón L4) which is open from Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10am 9pm, and on Sundays and holidays from 10am to 7pm.It ends on the 10th of January.
  6. If you are a fan of Pablo Neruda and/or the seashells then make a time to see about 400 seashells at Instituto Cervantes (c/ Alcalá, 49 Metro: Banco de EspañaL2) personally collected by this late Chilean poet and writer.The institute is open from de Mondays to with Sundays and holidays from 5pm till 9pm. Entrance is free! and it closes on the 24th of January.
  7. The exhibition the ¨ Fourth-Cabinet¨  follows the tracks and the trail.if the words “We must live to build the house and not build the house to live in it.” by the Space Poet Gaston Bachelard move you,then this exhibition is worth a visit at the Matadero Madrid (Paseo de la Chopera, 14 Metro: Legazpi L3).Entrance is free.
  8. La Casa Encendida (Ronda de Valencia, 2 Metro: Lavapiés) is hosting an exposition of the theatral director Edward Gordon Craig till the 17th of January.The opening times are from Mondays to Sundays from 10:00 to 21:45.Entrance is free!
  9. The exposition of Albéniz pays tribute to this artist 100 years after he died and 150 years since he was born. Its all happening at Centro Cultural Conde Duque (Conde Duque , 9 Metro: Ventura Rodríguez L3).Its open from Tuesdays to saturdays at 10am to 9pm and Sundays and holidays from 10:30 to 14:30.Its closed on Mondays.Entrance is free and its ending on the 31st of January!
  10. Helsinki Madrid FinDesign is a fascinating exposition which explores the fusion of the material and digital worlds in design.Check it out at Matadero Madrid (Paseo de la Chopera, 14 Metro: Legazpi).Its open from Tuesdays to Fridays at 16:00 to 22:00 and Saturdays,Sundays and holidays from 11am till 10pm with Mondays closed.It runs till the 10th of January and entrance is free!
  11. Enjoy an exhibition by , Javier Calleja, called Sweet Home showcasing micro-worlds and our reality. Its happening at Galería Rafael Pérez Hernando (c/ Orellana, 18 Metro: Alonso Martínez L4-5-10 / Colón L4).Opening hours are Monday to Fridays from 10am to 2pm then from 5pm till 8pm then Saturdays from 11am till 2pm and from 5pm till 8:30pm.Entrance is free.It ends in January.
  12. An exposition of bronze sculputers with some of the pieces  from Museo del Prado, el Museo Arqueológico Nacional o la Real Casa de la Moneda de Madrid.Its been held at Palacio Real (c/ Bailén s/n Metro: Ópera).Opening hours are from 9:30 till 17:00 and on Sundays and holidays from 9am till 2pm.Its ending in January.
  13. The exhibition dialogues is work of  two of the top Spanish artists Sorolla & Velázquez.Its at Museo Sorolla (General Martínez Campos, 37).Entrance is €3 and its opened from Tuesday to Saturday at 9:30 till 8pm and its closed on Mondays and on major national holidays.
  14.  Drawing exhibition by the Chilean author  José Palomo Fuentes.It ends on the 10th of January and its at  Consulado General de Chile (c/ Rafael Calvo, 18 Piso 5-D Metro: Iglesia L1). Entrance is free.
  15. The exhibition ¨Peace¨outlines a period in the first 2 decades of the 17th century.the exhibitions choscases 75 works of art from some of the most prestigious museums in Europe like Rijksmuseum, Museum of Fine Arts in Brussels, National Museum of Prado, and Museo d` Louvre.Its held at Fundación Amberes (c/ Claudio Coello, 99 Metro: Núñez de Balboa L5-L9).Its open from 10:00 till 20:30.Its free on Tuesdays and Wednesdays while other days there is a fee.
  16. The exhibition of the photographer  Lisette Modelesta presents  shots of everyday life,gazes and a general study of people without pretentions.Its taking place till the 10th of January at Fundación Mapfre – Sala Azca (Av. General Perón, 40 Metro: Santiago Bernabeu L10).The hours are: Monday from 14 to 21h. Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a 21h. Sundays from 10am till 8pm.Entrance is free.
