Saturday, October 20 @ 8:30pm - Durga meaning "the invincible" is the mother goddess of Hinduism, depicted with multiple arms, carrying various weapons and riding a ferocious lion or tiger, often pictured slaying demons, the ultimate example of the women's liberation. The show "Durga" which will present the dance company Sohinimoksha, aiming to showcase and celebrate the power of women and the true flavor of India. Monday, 8 October. Tomás Marco (Madrid, 1942) is a composer who wrote five operas, one ballet, seven symphonies, as well as choral and chamber music. He is also an essayist, having written several books and articles on contemporary music and winning several awards, including the National Music Prize of Spain. There will be a monographic concert in honor of one of the most prolific and influential Spanish musicians. The program will review works of different periods of the composer's career with an accompanied string orchestra and include performances by the renowned soloists Pablo Sainz Villegas on guitar and Maria Antonia Rodriguez on flute. Saturday, October 6 @ 8:30pm - "Raga, Peace, Harmony. A Tribute to Ghandi" is a classic musical recital with a sitar, a traditional string instrument from the 7th century of Northern India, performed by master Roychowdhuri, accompanied by Sanjib Pal on the table (typical percussion instrument), interpreting ragas, a melodic composition used in Indian classical music, which is based on the use of five or more notes which creates a melody. In the Indian musical tradition, ragas are associated with different moments of everyday, holidays, seasons or mythological stories.
