This exhibition celebrates the power and sensuality of women, which for the most part has been ignored in Western art. The exhibition has been divided up into two parts. One part is at the Foundation Caja Madrid (FCM). It mainly focuses on the spiritual strength of women. The first and biggest painting that greets you as you enter is one of the famous heroine Joan of Arc (The painting is entitled “The entry of Joan of Arc into Orleans” by Jean Jacques Sherrer). When you turn around to you will be captivated by the other powerful well-known images surrounding you.Paintings of women by women: at the FCM you can find impressive artworks of women by men but a section is also dedicated solely to woman painters (the majority are self-portraits) where you can find the painting called “ Self-portrait of Thorn necklace and Hummmingbird” by Freda Kahlo. Works by other female artists such as Berthe Morisot, Angelica Kaufman and Sofonisba Anguissola (but to a name a few) are also on display.
