Inauguration Party at La Aventura Española

Cheap in Madrid La Aventura EspañolaA new Spanish Language school called LAE Madrid will be throwing an inauguration party this Tuesday April 9th from 7pm to 9pm at calle Montesa, 35 (metro: Lista). They are inviting Cheap in Madrid readers to attend the inauguration, which will be loads of fun, with a wine tour, art work by local artists, delicious tapas, and some great prizes in the raffle including a gift certificate from Carmencita Bar, a gift basket from Taste of America, a wine tasting from Madrid Babel, a tour with Madrid Food Tour, or tickets to a JaJaHa! comedy show.

The first 25 CiM readers can also take advantage of a private class at the school (between 9:30 am and 2:30 pm) or a week’s free evening group class if they attend the event. To join the fun, email [email protected]. Make sure you mention CiM to get your free classes.

The school’s founders realized that when you first step off the plane with your Spanish phrase book, your dream is either to learn Spanish or improve the level you already have. You imagine sitting with the locals and sharing a few jokes. However, the reality can sometimes be a bit tougher. Every time you go to speak Spanish, the waiter, barman, etc. wants to practice their English, and you have suddenly developed acute shyness that only 3 Spanish copas seems to cure! So they focus on giving you the confidence to speak, getting you out there communicating with locals and completing tasks in teams.

The school is in good hands as Jaume, the Director of Studies, is also an actor (currently in Amar para Siempre where he plays an ambitious lawyer). His drama influence can be seen throughout the school. Each day finishes with their unique c-2-c (confidence to communicate), with the students participating in real life role plays and all the various levels coming together. The laughter can be heard throughout the school and the day certainly finishes on a high.

“My job is to get my students out there in the real world speaking Spanish. I don’t want them to be lifetime students in the classroom. I give them the tools and confidence to start their Spanish journey and then I send them on their way to have their own Spanish adventure.” -Jaume.
