Orensanz (Laura, Huesca, 1951) is one of the greatest Spanish artists with international reputation. Recognized by critics and audiences as one of the most important sculptors of the past quarter century, in 2001, the Biennale of Contemporary Art in Florence gave a tribute to all his work, a year later he received the Gold Medal of the Academy of Fine Arts . Since the 60′s he has spread his work to various places around the world, developing a language of fusion between art and life. In the mid 80′s he settled in New York and created the foundation that bears his name in an ancient synagogue on the Lower East Side. In recent years he has made several urban interventions with large cities around the world. Through a series of installations created specifically for the museum gardens,we will discover the dialogue that Orensanz is proposing between culture and nature. The artist has placed three large sculptural groups at the tops of the trees in the gardens of the museum which will remain until the arrival of autumn. The changing chromaticity produced by the natural elements, on which plays his work earned him the 2007 UN recognition “for his outstanding contributions to environmental awareness through art.” The exposition is running until the 30th of October and admission is FREE.
