Barcelona is a major driver of innovation, creation and internationalization. And this exhibition is proof of this. "Thought up in Barcelona" wants to invite visitors to learn about the people and companies that create innovative products and services that excel in Barcelona and worldwide. The exhibition presents a collection of individual cases, innovators and pioneers that have developed in this city and they often have international repercussions. Examples of Barcelona has the potential engine of innovation, creation and internationalization. And also proof that, sometimes, an illusion may lead to a reality, or an embryonic idea may end a market or a small business can grow into a world leader. In Barcelona there are conditions for this to happen and more. The city is a "hub" of connections, a woven fabric that allows exchange of ideas, collaboration between people, companies, knowledge centers and institutions and, ultimately, progress. "Thought up in Barcelona" highlights and analyzes these connections. The exhibition thus presents a series of examples that indicate that innovation often arises through a process of collaborative work. That an established company work with a design school is an asset to be fostered, mutual benefit: the company receives fresh ideas and the student works in a real case. And a fashion designer to develop a project with a technology center is a sign that the development is positive. Free. The Arab House organizes the exhibition Gardens of sand. Commercial photography in the Middle East 1859-1905 which brings together more than 80 black and white photographs of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. This is a unique collection that brings the first images of Middle Eastern countries that made European travelers. PASSING ON EARTH is a group exhibition conceived by the Institut Français in Spain that brings together 45 artists working today in France and Spain. This exhibition aims to show the diversity and quality of contemporary artists, and open a window into their worlds. The artists were chosen by two curator friends, Françoise Adamsbaum (Keza Galerie, Paris, France) and Mr William Jeffett (Conservative in the Salvador Dali Museum in Saint Petersburg, Florida, United-States). They represent different generations and sensibilities of the art today. Art critic Santiago Olmo has written a text that decrypts the works and the concept of the exhibition. Each artist has been asked a digital image to answer the following question:

"In 2011, we traverse the land in a few hours or find ourselves instantly across the globe in a few clicks. Despite that, we're just passing through. For humans, the passing on earth can last for hours, days or years. Since the twentieth century, only one or two generations ago, men can, for as long a life, tour the five continents and discover the most exotic regions of the world, which is now at hand. But some humans, writers or artists still prefer a journey, in their study, out of the world, and lead to a parallel universe. Do you? What kind of traveler are you? What memories of your journey on earth will you take? What real or dreamed image of the world will you save from your journey? Or what traces would leave from your passage?"
