Exhibit: Antonin Artaud, Language & Arts in the 50′s

Antonin Artaud (1896 – 1948) was a key figure in the avant-garde art scene after World War II. His work ranges from theater to poetry through visual art.

The Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (Calle Santa Isabel, 52) will house an exhibition devoted to the work of the French author including works by himself, works of visual artists, writers, poets and composers from the United States, France and Brazil.

This exhibit will be structured in several thematic sections and explore the legacy of the artist, since its reinvention of language to critique the psychiatric institution where he was a patient and victim throughout his life.

Hours: Monday-Saturday 10am-9pm, Sundays 10am-7pm. Closed on Tuesdays.

Free entrance: Monday-Friday 7pm-9pm, Saturday 2:30pm-7pm, Sunday 10am-7pm.
