This weekend “The Help” is opening in English at Renoir Retiro (C/ Narvaez 42, metro: Ibiza, L9) and Yelmo Cines Ideal (C/ Doctor Cortezo, 6, metro: Tirso de Molina, L 1). The movie, which is already garnering serious Oscar buzz, follows a southern belle in the 1960`s who suddenly decides to write a book about the African American maids in her town. Of course, this can’t be done without ruffling a few feathers and revealing a few secrets held by the town’s most prominent families.

Also playing at Yelmo Cines Ideal is  Contagion, starring Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law. The thriller follows doctors trying to stop an outbreak of a deadly virus.
