Free Bicycle Loan Service in Madrid
It is wonderful to know that you can ride bicycles for free in Juan Carlos I Park. Whether alone or with kids, you can enjoy a bicycle ride in this beautiful park for an hour at a time and it wont cost them a cent! The Juan Carlos I park offers a bicycle loan service for an hour to the public for free. All you need to do to access this service is register yourself with your ID document (Spanish NIE for expats), or driver´s licence or a passport. You could even have a ride on the same day of registration depending on the availability of bicycles.
How the free bike service works:
There are a variety of bicycles from double-seater bikes, varied frames bikes suitable for men and women and bikes with children´s customized seats. The service times are as follows:
Winter Season: From 09:30 to 18:00 from November to March. (Last loan @ 16:45)
Spring & Automn Season: From 09:30 to 20:00 for April,May and October. (Last loan @ 18:45)
Summer Season:From 10:00 to 21:30 from June to September. (Last loan @ 20:15)
Helmets are also provided with every loan. This initiative which began in 2005 is wonderful for couples, friends and families with young children to do some exercise while taking in the beautiful landscapes of Parque Juan Carlos I. Be sure to come early to avoid queues. Parque Juan Carlos I is located near Metro Feria de Madrid and can also be reached using buses 104, 112 and 122.
