Outdoor Christmas Markets in Madrid
If you are feeling that Christmas holiday spirit and want to spend an evening walking under the glittering festive street lights and checking out arts & crafts from little wooden stalls, you should check out these Christmas markets! They will surely fill you with holiday cheer!!
Plaza Mayor
The most traditional market of Madrid that occupies all the main square with over a hundred booths dedicated exclusively to selling traditional Christmas products such as nativity scenes and decorations. Also children can enjoy a classical carousel. This market is open Monday- Thursday from 10am-10pm & Friday- Sunday 10am-11pm, until December 31.
Plaza de Santa Cruz & Plaza de Provincia
These two smaller spaces adjacent to the Plaza Mayor is an extension of the larger market with the same dates and opening times, although with dedicated stalls selling gifts.
Plaza de Benavente
Located between SOL and Tirso de Molina, this traditional market of crafts and gifts known as Christmas Card Christmas Fair, has over 2o booths, decoration emulates a medieval village. This fair is open daily from 10am-10pm until January 6.
Plaza de Santo Domingo
In this small square you can find only handcrafted artisan gifts, perfect for gift giving and supporting local craftsmen. Open daily from 10am-10pm until January 6.
Plaza de España
Another artisan fair only larger and open from December 14-January 5, from 11am-9pm.
Plaza de Moncloa
A charitable market by the non-profit organization Mensajeros de la Paz opens daily from 10am-8pm until January 6.
Plaza de Isabel II
Opposite the Teatro Real in Opera, you can buy all sorts of typical and arabic sweets. Open daily from 10am-1-pm, and up to 24 hours on weekends, until January 6.
Plaza de Oriente
Opposite the Royal Palace, there is a large ice rink, children’s attractions and a vintage carousel. Open daily from 10am-1-pm, and up to 24 hours on weekends, until January 6.
