San Isidro 2015 Celebrations: Free Activities
The San Isidro festivities in Madrid are occurring from the 14th till the 17th of May. Saint Isidro, also spelt Isidiro, is a patron saint of Madrid. He was elevated to sainthood status after manifesting many miracles many of whom have said to have been witnessed by others.
The story goes like this: Isidro, who was a field worker, got anointed with supernatural powers after he heard some singing from a nearby cathedral. Some of the miracles attributed to him include, making the ground bring water to the surface, while his master suffered thirst, saving the life of his child who fell into a well by making the water rise to the surface and bring her up with the upward thrust as well as being helped by angels in the field. He is said to have had the capacity to complete the work of three or more men, and the explanation was that he was helped by angels. In fact, some villagers and coworkers had sworn to have seen him working accompanied by angels. All these manifestations, got attention of the Catholic church and he got beatified and canonized after his death.
