This hot spring weather calls for a refreshing glass of Spanish white wine! As usual, you have a lot of choices when it comes to white wines. One important region is Rias Baixas in In the Northwest of Spain, the white Albariño grape flourishes.
This grape tends to have a pretty intense fruit flavor with moderate weight and structure. Thanks to all the rain in Galicia, the albariño is able to maintain a high acidity. This character allows it to be paired with many different foods. Some recommendations are seafood, chicken or veal, and Asian cuisine like Chinese or Thai. The grape is meant to be consumed young.
Here are a few makers to look out for:
- Orballo Rías Baixas
- Burgans Rías Baixas
- Condes de Albarei Rías Baixas Salneval
