Holidays in SpainSummer holidays in Spain are a big attraction to many in Europe and abroad. First consideration to make is where: the mountains, the beach or the city. If you choose to go mountaineering then go north. Regions like Asturias and of course Galicia offer mild and even breezy climates in summer to contrast the scorching and dry Spanish summer heat at most coastal destinations as well as inland. The climate in the north of Spain is ideal for outdoors sports and family excursions like hiking. In choosing a place to stay, rental villas are ideal for activity filled holidays as well as family or group holidays. Now considering holiday takers looking for a sunny Spain: there are beautiful beaches all over Spain and the choice of a beach holiday, depends on accommodation availability and duration of the holidays. It is also true that some beach destinations are more popular with certain European visitors than others, for example Benidorm is popular destination with the so called guirris referring to Germans and British. While, an island like, Palma de Mallorca is more spread out with French citizens mainly found in Puerto Pollenza and Germans in Arenal. This information is usually helpful, to choose accommodation because the shops and commercial zones usually offer services akin to the groups which stay there. It is useful to remember to choose the right season to take a holiday for the corresponding accommodation. For instance, more and more Spanish people prefer to take their summer holidays right at the end of summer when people return to work to avoid crowds and tourists. Lastly, lets evaluate the option of a city holiday in Spain. This applies to inland cities like Madrid and other inland towns like Segovia or Salamanca. Taking holidays in the cities during July and August in cities is not advisable. The heat is simply unbearable. However, this option can be attractive for partyers who have many exterior entertaining alternatives. Now back to accommodation choices, this depends on the profile of each holidayer. A family with small children can opt for rural homes or villa renting, while young people as well retirees mainly find hotels or hostels more convenient and practical. As people´s tastes and accommodation needs evolve, more and more people choose accommodation that affords them independence from institutionalized accommodations like hotels and hostels to choose the flexibility and intimacy of holiday homes and villas.
