The Superbowl is on Sunday. Yes, this Sunday February 3rd the San Francisco 49ers take on the Baltimore Ravens in Superbowl XLVII and with the 6 hour time difference, the game starts late. Very late. Kickoff isn’t until 12:30am (00:30) but if you are up for it, don’t worry you will not be alone. Even though American football is not very popular here in Spain or even in Europe on this night you’ll find all sorts of expats and Spaniards huddled together late into the wee hours of the morning.
Your best bet for watching the game is to pick one of Madrid’s Irish pubs – they will put up several large projector screens to please all of the football fans. Try to show up early, grabbing some food and a table before the masses arrive. If you have a big group you can also check with the bar and may be able to reserve a table or section with a clear view.
